Hi there...
I am just someone who has a passion for photography.
Photography was always something that I had wanted to try but it wasn't until digital came of age, around the year 2010, that I started taking it seriously as a hobby.
I have never been what I consider to be 'arty'. I had graduated with an honours degree in Computing Science and went on to have a very long and successful career in IT - a very logical and precise, right or wrong, kind of technical field.
Coming from such a technical background, I have found it profoundly challenging to develop an artistic eye when taking photographs. The fact there is mostly no right or wrong has been a real difficulty for me - "beauty", as they say, is in the eye of the beholder.
The more I learn, the more I realise I don't know. Photography is a complex and many faceted field and that is part of the attraction - that there are so many categories and disciplines to it.
In my quest for the answer to just what does make a good photograph, I have been experimenting with various different types of photography, from travel to wildlife, landscapes to still art, macro to long zoom lenses. I will try anything - although wildlife remains my favourite.
Long may the journey continue...
Gear
I started out with Canon gear, but have more recently swapped to Fujifilm's mirrorless XT range. The differences are roundabouts and swings, but Fuji gear is definately much lighter, more intuitive and fun. Focus peaking is to die for :-)
Just remember though ....the best camera is always the one you have with you.
